Information about silk scarves
Hand-printed scarves
With your silk scarf, you are receiving an artistically designed and handcrafted product from us. When screen printing by hand, there may be slight differences in the print image from one piece to another. There may also be slight differences between the print image on your scarf and the scarves shown on our website. These differences are ultimately what distinguishes our manually printed scarves from digitally printed ones and makes them special, unique pieces of jewelry.
Edition, color, motif
Each motif appears in an edition of 20 to a maximum of 40 copies. We print on different silk colors within an edition, so there are no more than ten copies of a motif on a particular color. The number assigned to a scarf within an edition is noted on an accompanying card, along with the title of the motif and the name of the artist. Each motif is developed in an artistic process using brushes and ink, pencils, scissors, and paper cutouts. Sometimes objets trouvés—lace, knitted lace, wrought-iron window grilles, circuit diagrams, and many other items—are scanned and assembled into collages, which ultimately form the basis for the print.
Shipping and packaging
When you place an order, your silk scarf will be accompanied by a certificate and, depending on its size, will be shipped to you in either a hand-printed ivory-colored box or a hand-printed black paper bag. We manufacture and package your scarf with great care, so that normally no damage to the scarf or packaging can occur during transport. However, if your scarf arrives damaged, please send us an email within three days, describing the damage and including a photo.
Returns in case of withdrawal
In the event of a return, please ensure that the hand-printed jewelry box with the cloth is packaged in such a way that neither the cloth nor the box can be damaged during transport. We only accept returns of unworn, unsoiled, and unwashed scarves. Therefore, when trying on the scarf, please make sure that no stains from cream, makeup, or other cosmetics get on the scarf. If the scarf is not returned in its original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value and we cannot accept the return.
You can find more information on this in our Terms and Conditions and in the Right of Withdrawal.
Care – for a long silk life
You can have our scarves, shawls, and dresses carefully cleaned at your trusted dry cleaner. However, we recommend hand washing. This will preserve the brilliance of the print color for longer. However, there are a few points to note:
hand wash
Use only cold water and a designated silk detergent for washing. If the latter is not available, a mild hair shampoo can also be used, but it must not contain any moisturizing or hydrating ingredients (these can reduce the shine of the silk). As a general rule, avoid alkali when choosing a detergent! Alkali is contained in most heavy-duty and mild detergents and attacks the silk. Do not soak silk for longer than ten minutes, then move it back and forth in the water for two to three minutes. Rinse well after washing. A dash of clear vinegar essence in the final rinse water will care for the fabric and colors in the long term.
Drying
Never wring out silk. To dry, crêpe satin silk and pongée silk should be hung up wet, while bourette silk should be carefully shaped and dried flat. Do not expose to sunlight while drying. All types of silk should be protected from prolonged direct sunlight.
Ironing
Silk is best ironed when slightly damp. The fabric should always be ironed on the reverse side and at a maximum heat setting of 2. Silk fibers (like our hair) consist of protein compounds, which can be damaged by excessive heat.
stains
Never treat a single stain with water, and always avoid rubbing. We have had good experiences with stain removers from 'Dr. Becks' (be sure to follow the instructions for use). If in doubt, it is better to take the cloth to a good dry cleaner before attempting to remove the stain yourself and risking it becoming permanently fixed in the fabric. Important: react as quickly as possible! Stains are much easier to remove if they have not had days to dry.
Enjoy your scarf!
